Criminal Justice
I am Dr. Brown, a recent W. University graduate. I earned a PhD in Human and Social Services with a concentration in Criminal Justice.
My experience at W. University was excellent. As I worked on chapter 2 of my dissertation, I sought an editor for my paper. In the process, I discovered a post regarding mentoring/editing services. In response, I contacted Graduate Student Research, who provided me with more information about the group and also informed me that the group will meet on Sunday at 4pm. I attended my first meeting and was immediately captivated by the support I received. Choosing to continue attending meetings was a decision I will never regret. It provided the assistance I needed to advance my studies. The first time I met with Graduate Student Research to review the paper I had submitted for editing, the feedback I received was exactly what I needed. I vividly remember Graduate Student Research commending me for my understanding of certain aspects of writing the paper. Her feedback bolstered my self-confidence and motivated me to continue. In our discussions, Graduate Student Research didn’t just edit and provide feedback on my paper; they took a holistic approach, ensuring I was also doing well in other areas of my life, which is crucial when working on a paper.
Graduate Student Research instilled in me courage to persevere. Our paths crossed in 2021, and two years later, in October 2023, I faced the most challenging period of my life with the passing of my grandmother in Jamaica. Throughout this ordeal, Graduate Student Research was a pillar of support.
I recognize that my strength comes from God, but it was Graduate Student Research who instilled courage to persevere. On the day of an interview with a participant, Graduate Student Research; encouragement was pivotal.
From that moment, I felt renewed vigor and a deep-seated desire to undertake this for my grandmother. I promptly began writing Chapter 4 and received valuable feedback from Graduate Student Research. After I submitted my paper, my chair highlighted a few minor revisions. When I resubmitted that section of Chapter 4, it was returned without revision. The sole feedback from my chair was, “This is great”; Bolstered by Graduate Student Research; encouragement, I promptly proceeded to Chapter 5. It was astonishing to submit a paper for Graduate Student Research; review at 1 am and receive it back by 7 am.
I wish to express my profound gratitude to the Graduate Student Research Community (Ph.D./Mentoring Group) for their invaluable support throughout my tenure at W. University. This group is an excellent resource for Ph.D. students seeking guidance, support, and community. My membership in this group has afforded me outstanding mentorship, fellowship, and personal development.
Under Graduate Student Research; leadership, the group has fostered a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that guided me through PhD research. The regular meetings and one-to-one sessions have been instrumental in refining my research question, developing my methodology, and maintaining my motivation.
The group’s focus on every facet of dissertation writing, cultivating a scholarly voice, and promoting well-being has been exceptionally helpful. It has deepened my understanding of the importance of my research, honed vital skills, and fostered enduring relationships with fellow scholars.
I credit a significant part of my PhD journey and success to the Graduate Student Research Community (Ph.D./Mentoring group}. For those seeking a community that fosters growth during their PhD endeavors, joining the Graduate Student Research Community (Ph.D./Mentoring group) is a decision you won’t regret. It’s an opportunity to embrace change and thrive.
Sincerely,
Dr. Brown
